It's only been 8 years

It's been a while, hasn't it? A lot has happened since then:

  • Nobody had heard of Uber at the time of the previous release. People were too busy at home compiling mp3blaster.
  • The Higgs Boson was discovered by CERN's Large Hadron Collider, now that they were less distracted by trying to compile mp3blaster.
  • The world population grew by approximately 751,551,274 people. Not all of them are expected to be familiar with mp3blaster.
  • Futurama returned! And left us again :( Let's fire up mp3blaster and play this song.
  • The time between the last two releases is still 100 years less than that of the Chicago Cubs' last two World Series wins (for those of you into baseball). I'm trying to work in an mp3blaster reference here, but I'm striking out.

Mp3blaster hasn't been in active development since forever though, and this release sadly does not change a whole lot there. However, the friendly maintainers at debian have provided patches over the years to keep mp3blaster alive, and I have applied all of them for this minor release.

Mp3blaster now has a github repo instead of CVS. Talk about ancient history. However, you can still download the distro-ready tarballs at sourceforge.net (again, ancient history yadda yadda)

Enjoy, and see you in another decade or so.

PS: No, I didn't actually secure the rights to winamp.

Gained the rights to good old winamp. Starting early next year, mp3blaster will continue as winamp3blaster.

Released version 3.2.5. This version only contains some minor compilation fixes.

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Released version 3.2.4. This version fixes skips and hickups when using SDL audio output.  Also, when changing back directories in the file browser, it will jump back to the subdirectory the user came from.

Saturday, August 5, 2006

Released version 3.2.3. The most interesting change is the dynamic screen resizing.

Monday, January 30, 2006

Released version 3.2.2. The most interesting change is the addition of support for SDL audio output.

Mp3blaster now compiles cleanly on more systems. It compiles cleanly on cygwin, but also on Mac OS X / Darwin OS.

Updated site layout. All content can now be accessed without page reloads, while still being usable by text-browsers. The layout is rather boring though; if you are a designer with too much time on your hands and have a nice idea for this site, please get into contact with me (bram @ avontuur . org)! I'll reward you handsomely by linking to your site and giving you credits :) My demands that must meet the design:
  • KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). No flashy painful-to-the-eyes layout. It should have a professional touch that is subtle yet appealing.
  • A navigation bar that links to the different sections. May be vertical as well.
  • (A) Logo, copyright notice. I'm not all that attached to the current logo or its font.
  • Preferably no pixel-perfect designs that make it hard to implement in HTML
  • It should scale well on different screens. Minimum screen size: 1024x768
  • Large contrasts for text/background such that visibly impaired people can read it easily.
  • I like dark backgrounds!
